Alberta Council of Women’s Shelters
Alberta Council of Women’s Shelters has a list of select Alberta Women’s shelters that provide first and second stage shelter from domestic violence, including emergency hotline support.

The Institute for the Advancement of Aboriginal Women: Recognizes, promotes and advances the leadership of Aboriginal women in Alberta. They also offer programming and training opportunities.
Edmonton Resources
- Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society: Programs and services for Edmonton’s urban Aboriginal population.
- Canadian Mental Health Association: Supports those who are experiencing or affected by mental illness.
- Indo-Canadian Women’s Association: Advocates for the protections of rights of immigrant women, men and youth through programs, services and community activities. ICWA works to help immigrants feel at home.
- Pride Center: Community centre for the Edmonton 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Includes access to counselling, sensitive and expert information, referrals, programs and more.
- Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton: Supports for individuals who have experienced sexual abuse or assault. Education for the public about sexual violence.
- Terra Centre: Provides support and services the empower teen parents to succeed.
- The City of Edmonton Housing Information: Get information on how to access subsidized, seniors, and emergency housing.
- Today Family Help Centre: Raises awareness and builds capacity by providing immediate, inclusive, integrated services for those impacted by family violence.
- YWCA Edmonton: A women’s social service organization that advances the wellness and growth of women, girls and families.
Calgary Resources
- Aboriginal Friendship Centre of Calgary (AFCC): Supports Calgary’s urban Indigenous community with housing, cultural education, youth programs, and employment resources.
- Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse (CCASA): Provides free counselling and support for those impacted by sexual violence.
- Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association (CIWA): Settlement services for immigrant women and families, including language training, employment supports, legal advice, and more.
- Calgary Outlink: Offers support, education, and resources for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
- CUPS Calgary: Offers health care, mental health resources, housing support, and services for families in need.
- Elizabeth Fry Society: Supports Indigenous women involved in the criminal justice system with mentoring, housing, and advocacy.
